HW: Read OMAM pp. 1-51 (stop at the bottom of pg. 51) Any notes and quotes you take in your Spiral Notebook/Composition pad you can use on the quiz on Thursday. You should pay particular attention (i.e. have quotes) for the following: dynamics between George and Lennie, Red Dress, Significance of Rabbits, Mice, high heeled boots, Irony of Lennie's name, predatory nature of the world, freedom to follow own desires, strength vs. weakness. HW: Read Chapters 1-3 of The Great Gatsby. Remember that any notes, quotes, etc. you take in your spiral notebooks will available for use on your reading check "picky" quiz. Happy Reading. Use the themes and symbols listed on the back of your syllabus as a guide for your reading. ALSO, it would be helpful for you to include in your reading journals any QUESTIONS you have and/or concepts you do not understand from your reading!

- HW Webquest Questions? Puritan values/beliefs Quick Notes, Anne Bradstreet "Upon the Burning of our House" in groups of three. Read aloud and answer the questions pertaining to the poem. Discuss as a class. Begin ACT I of The Crucible.
HW: Finish reading ACT I. Complete journal for ACT I- journal should be done in your spiral notebook. Along with any notes you take that you will be able to use on your quote based quiz. HW: After the quiz bombing today, you need to create yourself a character chart that includes ALL of the characters from The Crucible. - Warm up: SAT PREP, Revised Late Work Policy, Q & A: ACT III of The Crucible, Begin reading ACT IV and complete Figurative Language & Style chart in groups of student choosing no more than 3 people to a group.
HW: Finish reading ACT IV (The Finale!) and complete journal for ACT IV in your spiral notebook. Also, finish the Fig. Lang. & Style chart from class. Be sure the quotes you choose on your own are significant examples. LASTLY (and don't forget this as it will help prepare for our next class)... in your spiral notebooks, after your Act IV journal, create a T chart. Label the two sides "Self Presentation" and "Inner Self". List all of the characteristics, emotions, appearances, etc that you "present" to the outer world on one side. On the other, list and describe the inner most feelings, emotions, beliefs, etc. that you keep to yourself. Some of these characteristics may be the same (good, list those), but ALSO focus on the characteristics/emotions/qualities that are different from outer to inner. - Watch The Crucible (Mary's courtroom scene, John Proctor "name" scene), MASK & Poem SHARING, Introduce The Scarlet Letter and begin reading Chapter 1. As you read, pay particular attention to symbols and imagery from the handout given in class. Note any time (Quote & pg #) the specific symbols/images are described and/or referenced.
HW: Define vocabulary terms w/ sentences for 15 terms. Read TSL Chapters 1-4.
